Biography

I have had extensive practice and senior management experience in providing services for people who have drug and alcohol problems and complex needs working in both statutory and non-statutory services. I have worked in ICJS since 2003 and research, write and teach on issues related to the criminal justice system. My focus is on the development of complexity theory and its application to therapeutic interventions within the criminal justice system.

Research interests

Phenomenological approaches to complexity theory and its application to probation and social work. Currently I am  focused on the relationships between criminology and theology and how we understand forgiveness in criminal justice.  I am a member of the following learned societies:

  • The British Society of Criminology and the Historical Criminology Network
  • The Society for the 91¸£ÀûÍø of Addiction
  • Colloquium on Violence and Religion
